It's Friday. While I'd love to be on a patio somewhere, sipping a cool glass of sauvignon blanc - or maybe a rosé - there's work to be done before I can check out for the weekend. So I'm making do with a mini cheese plate I concocted at home.
At left: Portneuf Brie, Oka, and sundried-tomato havarti, all of which were on sale at Farm Boy last weekend (that place is deadly when it comes to cheese - I can't walk by without sampling, and ultimately buying, something scrumptious.) Genoa salami (good ol' Costco!). Triscuits, Melba rounds, pickles and bursting-with-juiciness cherry tomatoes.
This would (obviously!) taste a lot better with a glass of wine ... soon enough.
While I munch my way through lunch, I'm perusing Natalie McLean's revamped website. The "Connect" feature allows wine writers/bloggers/drinkers with a keyboard to post their own reviews and "meet" other oenophiles. Since we can't all hang out at the local wine bar and do a meet-n-greet, this is the next best thing. I'm still in the process of uploading my own reviews and completing my profile; keep ya posted on how that works out.
There's so much to do when it comes to the winosphere ... I just found out blogger gives you the option of making your blog mobile-friendly. Sah-WEEET! Beats the heck out of going blind trying to read the tiny print. My next step it to Twitter-ize myself. Seems to be quite a few other wineaux over there, tweeting what's in their glass, their cellars and what's on their minds. Because I'm not nearly opinionated enough here ...
Back to my munching ...
