Seems I've become quite the night owl. I'm finding myself still awake at 11:30, midnight, 1 am, blogging, browsing, reading up on wine events, and cleaning. The last part takes forever because I'm distracted by a great deal of the former. Oh, and I spend far too much time on Facebook. (But have you seen my new Page? It's so pretty! If you're on the FB, please "like" me. Please?)
Tonight, I'm tapping into the last of the Mezzacorona Novio 2010 Vino Novello di Teroldego (Italy) we opened on Sunday to go with a big mess of spaghetti. This is one of the bottles I bought while on my Beaujolais binge in November. It's an explosion of juicy, cotton-candied, bubble-gummed raspberry and cherry in the glass, but with a bit more weight to it than your typical "Bo-Jo". Better with food than just being sipped on its own (not that that is stopping me ...)
I managed to fill the dishwasher and get the counters wiped before I got pinged with a message. Then I was distracted by Holly's latest post (great read). Then I had to sift through my iTunes to find the right music for kitchen-cleaning. Right now, it's the soundtrack from Wicked. "Popular ... you're gonna be pop-YOUUUUUU-larrrrrr ..."
Time was that my brother and I shared dishwashing duties at home. No machine to do the dirty work for us. ("That's why we had kids," my mum would say. So true. Can't wait for that.) Standing at the big ceramic sink, he in charge of washing and me drying and putting away, with The Beatles' Revolver blaring in the background. There's something about belting out "Yellow Submarine" that makes late-night chores go just a little bit easier, a little bit faster. That was inevitably followed up with monologues by Bill Cosby or the comedic stylings of the Smothers Brothers. Ah, good times.
Well, the wine's running low and it's getting late ... guess I should get back to the dishes. And the laundry. And maybe I'll have time to read a lit .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Ha, ha. I'm going to try your sangria recipe, next time the sun comes out. Thanks for the shout out!
