A sign of the Apocalypse?

Never mind swine flu ... what would we do without BOOZE??? Today's Citizen reports that staff at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO, aka Mummy's Favourite Store) may be going on strike as early as the end of June. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ...

I'm gathering up my cloth bags as we speak for a run to get a few essentials. Let's see ... at least a couple of Oyster Bays, a few Chiantis for Italian nights, maybe something sparkling, just in case. You never know how long these things can stretch on for. Look at OC Transpo.

Well, if the LCBO does go on strike, this will be a great time for Ontarians to get well acquainted with local winemakers and their products. I already have a couple of day trips planned for Prince Edward County and Niagara later this summer to stock up; if I can't wait that long, I'll order direct. Plenty of Ontario wineries offer free delivery on orders of 12 bottles or more (often with a handy mix-n-match option) or you can sign yourself up for any number of delivery programs like the Ontario-exclusive Winery-to-Home or members' clubs run by the wineries themselves.

In any case, I plan on preparing well in advance of any staff-actioned walk out. I'll take out the first aid kit and month's worth of canned goods to make room for more bottles if I have to. You gotta have priorities. As a last resprt, I'll take a quick drive over to Quebec. Uhhh ... to visit the Museum. And tour Gatineau Park. Yeah, that's it ...
