Quaff this: Trefethen 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Trefethen

Found this beauty on our travels around Napa Valley. Had we known the duty wasn't as much as we feared, we probably would have brought more home!

Complex nose and flavours of red berries, earth, green stalks (a bit of asparagus, maybe?) and lots of peppery tannins. Long pepper finish with a boost of berries right at the end. Needed a bit of decanting to lift off the sediment, but otherwise a decadent mouthful. Paired it with striploin steaks and grilled potatoes done Montreal-style, and a caesar salad. It's one of those well-rounded and full wines that you sit and sip long after dinner's done. Worth a trip back to Napa, I think ...
